KFB is running a Talking Book Studio and Library at its Head Quarters, near Govt. Law College Junction, Thiruvananthapuram. This studio was started in 1997 and functioning with the support of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India. Books are recorded on cassettes and CDs in this studio and they are distributed among visually impaired students and adults. Almost all visually impaired students studying in the higher secondary schools/colleges in this State, are enjoying the support of this Talking Book Studio. History In recent years cassette players and CD players have come to play an important role in the education and cultural pursuits of the visually impaired all over the world. K.F.B realized the importance and usefulness of having a Talking Book Studio and Cassette & CD library as there was no such service for the blind in South India. In 1978 we approached the Catholic Relief Services, New Delhi for necessary equipments. In 1983-84 the equipments such as Revox Tape Recorders and Reel to Cassette Duplicator and accessories were received. As soon as the Headquarters building was completed we arranged a sound proof studio for recording with technical advice from the Engineers from All India Radio. The project was formally inaugurated by Shri.K.Karunakaran, Hon’ble Chief Minister on 7th August 1986 in the presence Smt. M.Kamalam, Hon’ble Minister for Social Welfare. Although the Ministry of Welfare sanctioned some funds for meeting recurring expenses during 1987-88. Contact No:04712304831.
